Key criteria to earn the Quality Label for Badge recognition

The Quality Label for Badge Recognition (further referred to as Quality Label) signifies a commitment to upholding quality standards in badge-issuing activities. By fostering a community dedicated to delivering quality learning opportunities and skill recognition, it aims to offer additional credibility and reliability in recognising and promoting quality Open Badge issuance practices.

What are the key criteria to receive the Quality Label?The Cities of Learning Network identified the following key criteria for an Organiser to be eligible to receive the Quality Label:

1. Formal criteria:1.1 Being registered on one of the Awero digital platforms, e.g. Cities of Learning, Badgecraft or others;
1.2 Having a verified Organiser account on the platform;
1.3 Adhering to the Cities of Learning Network values;
1.4 Actively using Open Badges for recognition for a period of at least 6 months.

2. Quality Criteria:2.1 Demonstrating competence in quality badge design and implementation;
2.2 Showcasing the organisation’s good practices in quality badge issuing and implementation;
2.3 Completing a standardised Quality Label online training course;
2.4 Providing a quality assurance and improvement plan for the next 3 years of badging activities within the organisation.

Detailed indicators for each criteria and what evidence should be provided by the applying Organiser are explained in the application form.

The Quality Label is valid for three years after which it must be renewed through a shortened evaluation process. This is to ensure quality is maintained and upheld through time. If it is not renewed, it will expire and be revoked.
